Il prossimo 9-11 ottobre si terrà a Torino una importante conferenza, quella di ELISAD ( European Association of Libraries and Information Services on Alcohol and Other Drugs). Il meeting, organizzato dal Gruppo Abele (infaticabile Daniela Zardo & Co.), si intitola Addiction Information: Designing the Future e verterà su come le tecnologie di condivisione e la globalizzazione delle conoscenze possano avere risvolti proficui anche nell’ambito della documentazione sulle dipendenze e dell’informazione sanitaria in generale. In addition to being – as usual – a privileged moment for training and studying, this year’s conference celebrates an anniversary of particular relevance to Elisad, the main aim of which is to enable those working in addictions information to exchange knowledge, ideas, and share experiences, in order to improve everybody’s knowledge and professional skills throughnetworking, co-operation among members and promotion of joint planning skills.
In addition to Elisad members, the conference is open to all those – both Italians and foreigners – who, for their work or because they are personally interested, want to study the subject of quality addictions information in detail, especially now, when the internet and the new technologies have deeply revolutionised information as a whole. The meeting is therefore of particular interest to all those working in public and private services, the staff of documentation centres and libraries, and professionals dealing with addictions information.
The theme of the meeting – Addictions information: designing the future – will address Elisad’s aim of meeting the challenges that information professionals and others face in an increasingly technological world, such as open source publishing, information dissemination, information literacy, the impact of the internet upon scholarship and research, and running virtual information services.
Sono particolarmente grata al Gruppo Abele e lieta di partecipare a questa conferenza dal momento che, oltre agli altri importanti relatori, vi sarà la mitica Karen Coyle e Anne Welsh, dalla National Library for Health Review, London, ammirata professionista dell’informazione medico-scientifica. Il mio workshop, intitolato Do it ourselves: social technologies for information retrieval, sarà uno sporcarsi le mani cercando di costruire un strumento in grado di filtrare l’informazione in maniera personalizzata. Questo il tema:
Websites, documents, presentations, wikis, specialised databases: how can we aggregate such diversified information sources? By the collaborative and interactive tools now provided by the Web. The workshop will focus on how to build IR applications aimed to retrieve interesting content (independently from the original website) and how to use some 2.0 tools to maximise information reuse and dissemination.
Posto il fatto che leggendo questo post sarete moralmente obbligati a partecipare ad ELISAD ;-) (considerate che non è così facile che in Italia si tengano conferenze di livello internazionale…), segnalo altri due eventi che si terranno pressappoco negli stessi giorni e che sono veramente interessanti: Democrazia e conoscenza, una due giorni organizzata dall’Università di Milano-Bicocca e Library 2.0: bluff o rivoluzione?, presso l’università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia.
