WASHINGTON – The American Library Association (ALA) is proud to announce that it now has a space in Second Life, the online community of more than one million users and home to a growing number of library organizations.
Needless to say, we are very excited to join the library community on Second Life, and we hope we as an association can utilize this technology to work with other library and education professionals who are pioneering efforts in immersive environments such as this one. We also hope to use these opportunities to further advance solutions to the digital divide and participation gap issues that surround Second Life and other virtual worlds, said Jenny Levine, ALA Internet Development Specialist and Strategy Guide.

This is me visiting ALA island – I warmly recommend you to teleport there and… imagine! It’s exciting to have the possibility to send suggestions to ALA for things or events to be built in (but, please, lower those stairs – I had to jump to get over them! ;-)
